Latest Event Updates
This month’s Women in Games Boston meeting is coming up, so it’s time for details:
When: Tuesday, February 22, 6:30 – 9:30PM
Where: Sally O’Brien’s, 335 Somerville Avenue, Somerville, MA
Who: Chris Hart, CTO of ReactionGrid, will be talking about developing platforms for multi-user environments, and demoing one of ReactionGrid’s OpenSim environments for teachers and students.
My name is Courtney Stanton, and I’m starting a group in Boston for women in the game industry and their allies. We’ll be meeting monthly beginning this month, on January 25, 2011, at 7pm. Information about where the first meeting’s location will be can be found in our Google Group.
“How do I know if I’m an ally?”
When I announce this group at local events, I often get asked (by cisgender men) whether men are “allowed” to participate in WIG Boston and/or attend our events. As it says, uh, everywhere on this site – WIG Boston is a group for women in the game industry and their allies. To cite Merriam-Webster, an ally is, “one that is associated with another as a helper.” If that describes your relationship with women in the game industry — a helper, an advocate, a supporter — then this group is for you, regardless of your gender identity.
“I have other questions!/I’d like to suggest speakers!/Something else!”
I’d love to hear from you! Please email email@example.com with any feedback, questions, volunteering, etc.
I look forward to chatting with you on the Google Group and meeting you in person on January 25!
